Special Conference Issue: Pacific Basin Finance Journal

 

The School of Finance at the University of Sydney Business School invites submissions for the 10th anniversary meeting of the Sydney Banking and Financial Stability Conference (SBFC). The conference aims to bring together international academics to share and discuss their latest research on banking, financial stability, and related topics across both established and emerging areas of finance. It is designed to encourage collaboration on the most important current issues in banking and financial stability, while also contributing to public policy discussions on strengthening the financial system’s resilience.

Paper Submission (https://sbfc.sydney.edu.au/submission)

  • The conference welcomes submissions of research papers covering traditional and emerging subject areas of Banking and Finance, including Financial Intermediation, Financial Institutions and Markets, Fintech, Cryptocurrency and Central Bank Digital Currency, Financial system stability, Corporate Finance, Asset Pricing, Investment and Funds Management, and Macro Finance. Submitted papers should broadly align with the overarching themes of financial stability and financial system resilience.
  • Paper submission instructions are available on the conference website’s submission page: https://sbfc.sydney.edu.au/submission. Please follow the submission instructions closely.
  • The paper submission deadline is  31 August 2026.
  • Authors will be notified of our decision by 30 September 2026.

Special session organisation

  • The conference is open to a limited number of special sessions, each comprising three papers, organised by interested researchers proposing a theme-based session within the overall focus of the conference.
  • Interested researchers are encouraged to contact the conference organiser at [email protected] with a proposal by 15 August 2026.

Journal sponsorship
Papers presented at the conference and carefully revised in response to the discussant’s comments are invited for submission to one of the supporting journals on a “No Fault Option” basis. The normal submission and review process, including a submission fee, will apply.

  • Pacific Basin Finance Journal (PBFJ)
  • PBFJ will publish a full Special Issue on “Banking and Financial Stability in the Pacific Basin countries” from a selection of papers presented at SBFC2026.
  • Papers presented at the conference and carefully revised following the discussant’s comments are invited to submit to the SBFC2026 special issue of PBFJ.
  • The review process will be handled by the Special Issue Guest Editors and reviewed by the SBFC2026 Program Committee.
  • It should be noted that, given an over-saturation of PBFJ submissions on climate finance, green finance and ESG; these topics are not sought for this Special Issue.
  • Further instructions on submission to the special issue will be communicated after the conference.

 

  • International Review of Financial Analysis (IRFA), and
  • The Financial Review (TFR)

Papers presented at SBFC2026 are invited for consideration at either IRFA or TFR for regular issue submission. Revised papers after the conference, incorporating discussants’ suggestions, should first be sent to the conference organiser. After an internal review, the SBFC committee will send a recommended list of papers to each journal, and the authors of the recommended papers are invited to make a formal submission to each journal. The normal submission (there may be a submission channel) and review process, including a submission fee, will apply. Further instructions on the process will be provided after the conference.

  • Three best paper awards will be presented at the gala dinner.
    • Best paper - Banking
    • Best paper - Financial Stability
    • Best paper - PhD Candidate

  • There is no paper submission fee.
  • Information on the conference registration fee will be released when the registration site opens.
  • There will be a separate charge for the Gala dinner scheduled on the first day of the conference, Monday, 30 November. Attendance at the Gala dinner is optional but strongly encouraged. The dinner charge will be announced at a later date.
